a
House with Many Rooms
If
you only knew how much we appreciate your generosity!
At
our recent Celebration of Appreciation for our many friends who
have contributed to make possible the re-furnishing of our House
with Many Rooms, Father Gerry Robinson shared Henri Nouwen’s
reflection on “ hospitality” to honor the investment
that extends beyond the monetary gifts. We include that reflection
here in gratitude to the generous donors who were unable to attend.
We also include the reflection as invitation to our many additional
friends and associates who might consider making a contribution,
however small.
Hospitality
is not to change people but to offer them space where change
can take place. It is not a method of making our God and our
way into the criteria for happiness, but the opening of an opportunity
to others to find their way to God and their way. The paradox
of hospitality is that it wants to create emptiness— a
friendly emptiness where strangers can enter and discover themselves
as created free – to sing their own song, speak their
own language, dance their own dance.
If
you only knew how much we appreciate your generosity!
We rejoice in the many expressions of how replacing the 35+ year
old bedroom furnishings brings delight and comfort to our many
guests who come for hospitality. We are more than half-way
towards meeting our goal, with only 17 rooms awaiting
new furnishings.
All contributors will be remembered in prayer throughout
the year by Mercy staff and Sisters
A special Mass of appreciation will be celebrated during
our anniversary month of April each year.
