INSIGHT MEDITATION: THE PATH TO LIBERATION
Christian & Buddhist Perspectives
SILENT RETREAT
May 4-6, 2012
directed by :
Fr. Joe Mitchell, CP
This silent retreat will explore the path to liberation, which wants to free us from the suffering inflicted by the ego-mind and lead us to union with the ultimate Source of Life. This journey has many names. For Christians, it is a passage into the silence of God. For Buddhists, it is an awakening to the Truth. The retreat will present the theory and practice of meditation from these two traditions in a straightforward, sensible and useful way. Participants will learn how to understand the world within, how to train the mind, and how to open the heart so as to grow in wisdom and inner freedom.
“I see no contradiction between Buddhism and
Christianity . . . I intend to become as good a Buddhist as I can.” -Thomas Merton
