WORK AS A PILGRIMAGE
Silent Retreat—September 2-5, 2010
Writer David Whyte says, “Work...is a journey and a pilgrimage in which the core elements of our being are tested in the world.” Each testing gives rise to a deeper sense of identity...a “true self” with its limits and its potentials. Awareness of our “true self” opens us to the real gift—our work as our vocation—our calling.
On this Labor Day Weekend, our reflection in the silence of God will guide us to consider the ways in which our work and our passion (vocation) give shape to our life journey. After the opening evening, we will enter into the silence during which there will be opportunities for worship, reflection and spiritual direction.
"Come and see.” This is the invitation Jesus gave those, who encountering Him, found their life’s work. And that invitation is for each of you. Come and see the gift God has for you in the silence.
